Kharkiv region innovation infrastructure: current status and prospects

Abstract

The paper defines the concept of «Smart-economy», describes its composition. It was determined that «Smart-economy» is based on a comprehensive modernization and innovative development of all sectors based on new generation technology and provides high added value, energy efficiency, forming a secure environment and social stability. Also factors positioning Kharkiv region as an innovation project Smart region Kharkiv. The work presents the concept of innovation infrastructure, shows the legal framework set out its main components. Main objects of the Kharkiv region innovation infrastructure are displayed and analyzed in details: technology and science parks (with a detailed of the Technopark «Slobozhanschina», «Institute for Single Crystals», «FED Science Park», Research Park «Radio Electronics and Informatics» and others), industrial parks, innovative business-incubators and centers, innovation clusters, venture capital firms. The innovative infrastructure of Kharkiv region includes a large number of innovative organizations. However, almost all of them are located in Kharkiv. In addition, as of 2015, the city has 142 research centers and institutes, 1808 inventors, 472 innovators, 133 innovation active enterprises, 176 new technological processes were introduced, 31 company exports innovative products. The existing innovation infrastructure shows, on the one hand, the significant innovation potential of Kharkiv, on the other – the underdeveloped innovation infrastructure of the region. With the aim of formation the Kharkiv region as an innovative region, and Kharkiv – as a leading innovation center, Ukraine should take the following measures: to create engineering centers at universities; to create a regional network of scientific, technological and industrial parks; to create and develop new and existing high-technology clusters; to create the network of technology transfer etc.
