Kids as health agents: one strategy to form multipliers of knowledge
Journal Title: RSBO - Year 2009, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
Introduction and objectives: In addition to being actors, the children can participate actively in the process of health education. The aim of this project was to teach health education to children attending the Combemi/Unit São Judas, in Itajaí/SC; and evaluating if the strategy of formation of the kids as health agents is effective for them to become multipliers of knowledge. Material and methods: Seven children in their seventh year of age were selected, and called kids as health agents.Initially they underwent an oral exam of six questions (two questions for each subject – Speech Therapy,Nutrition and Dentistry). During the following eight months, the health agents had health education training, and at the end of this period they took a written test with five questions about each subject. Results and conclusion: The analysis of the evaluations done in the start and the end of the project confirmed that the strategy of the formation of the kids as health agents seems to be a efficient method, in which the children put in practice what they learn and become multipliers of knowledge. These data can be applied in the evaluation and development of this particular program, individually in the self-employed model from these three involved professional fields.
