Abstract
The paper identifies the most important directions of development of technology transfer in Ukraine having generalized theoretical background, analysed international experience and domestic realities. To enhance effectiveness of university technology transfer the internal factors of competitiveness of offices of technology transfer should be based on competencies, among which the most important is the development of entrepreneurial skills. Universities need autonomy and adequate resources for the development of technology transfer offices, as internal divisions, and the fulfilment of their key tasks. The government should focus on the creation of favourable and motivating external conditions for activities of offices of technology transfer, as infrastructure of the knowledge economy.
