Abstract
The article deals with the reform of higher education, analyzes the main trends and problems of modernization in the context of current global changes. There is no doubt that today the fact that competitiveness and sustainable economic growth in Ukraine will provide educational system aimed at implementing conservation programs and increase the accumulated science and practice of public knowledge. These processes are caused by the need to adapt the system of higher education and professional training to dynamic changes in today's globalized world. The desire to join the common European educational space, in addition to improving the quality of education, strengthen its ability to compete with American and Asian educational systems causes the transformation of education at one of the decisive factors of socio-cultural information society. Stated that one of the objectives of the national higher education is the formation of modern national elite capable of ensuring reproduction and development of innovative potential of the economy and democratic society. Therefore, higher education presents an important factor in the push for innovation as the global economy, which seeks to enter Ukraine requires a new level of education and continuous improvement of knowledge and skills throughout life. The competitiveness requires not only the preservation of the old time-tested educational system, but also timely and effective modernization of its combination with global developments. It is emphasized that higher education system needs further implementation of reasonable institutional reforms that require a careful, gradual, pre-prepared organizational and financial support.
