KRAJINA A JEJ VNÍMANIE: PRÍSTUPY K ANALÝZE
Journal Title: FOLIA GEOGRAPHICA - Year 2010, Vol 51, Issue 1
Abstract
According to geographical definition (Hartshorne 1939), landscape is a part of Earth surface perceived by human. The definition suggests that landscape that is to say objective reality is in contact with human subject, which perceives and sees it. In this sense, the material-energetic entity of Earth surface with objects possesses an inherent quality - outer appearance, i.e. physiognomy, character and image. Cognition of the material- energetic entity is efficient if landscape is researched as a system (geosystem) and its non- material quality (visual quality, appearance, image, noise, aroma, symbol, image) is also analysed through perception. The paper presents approaches to such analysis. Perception of landscape is a sensorial process that depends on individual capacity to perceive and imagine. Analysis of landscape perception as emotional and sensorial effect, should be ac- companied by the respect for several aspects proper to subject ’ s integrity: psychological- social type, profession and engagement, capacity to “read” landscape ’ s characters, to identify genius loci, to evaluate the aesthetic profit and to estimate scenic quality of landscape. The cognitive approach to the analysis of the non-material quality and landscape perception is based on scientific methods and theoretical constructions where prevailingly objective, objective-subjective and subjective attribute are alternatively preferred
