Abstract

(Cultural Education Programs: New Perspectives of Art Mediation. The example of Szigligeti Theatre Oradea) Although there is a considerable tradition of cultural education programs in the West, Romanian public cultural institutions have just started to exploit the possibility of educating their audience. The Romanian Cultural Consumption Barometer researches state that there is a great need for public relations strategies based on attaining cultural literacy. Thus, museums, theatres and concert halls should develop complex off ers that are more than merely their core product, and which incorporate services that provide experiences and enhance audience engagement, like volunteer programs, collaborations between professionals and non-professionals, respectively, theatre pedagogy projects. Szigligeti Theater Oradea’s educational off er is one of the best Romanian examples of how theater pedagogy projects could generate considerable changes in the consumers’ attitudes, as the number of youth season tickets were doubled in the last seven years. This paper presents the results of a focus group research, conducted among teachers from Oradea. The purpose of this research was to investigate the attitude of this group of benefi ciaries towards the theater education projects of Szigligeti Theater, to identify the causes of participation and non-participation, respectively to analyze the impact of these programs.
