La enfermedad de Alzheimer: importante desafío sociosanitario para el médico de familia

Abstract
La enfermedad de Alzheimer es un trastorno neurodegenerativo que afecta principalmente a los ancianos y que se caracteriza por un deterioro progresivo de las funciones cognitivas. Debido a su alta frecuencia y su impacto significativo, la enfermedad de Alzheimer es uno de los mayores desafíos sociosanitarios actuales que requiere intervenciones en diferentes niveles para su prevención, diagnóstico y tratamiento. El médico de familia puede desempeñar un papel fundamental en el establecimiento del diagnóstico y la implementación de intervenciones no farmacológicas al colaborar con otros profesionales de la salud, puede contribuir significativamente al bienestar y la calidad de vida de los pacientes con enfermedad de Alzheimer y sus cuidadores.
