Journal Title: Journal of Turkish Spinal Surgery - Year 1996, Vol 7, Issue 4
Abstract
Since March 1993, percutaneous intradiscaf İaser nucleotomy had been used in our department for the treaiment of a selected group of patients with herniated cervica! disc disease. We operaîed 59 paîients until January 1996, Among these, 48 cases whose foliow-up periods were longer than one year was inoiuded in this study. 78% of them were favoured during their late follow-up. Open surgery was proposed İn five cases, and three of them were operated. Overaii improvement in minör motor, sensoriai and deep tendon reflex deficits were 77.4%, 60.7%, respectiveiy. We recommend iaser nucleotomy as an alternative treatment procedure for cervica! disc herniations, and it can be performed with a low complication rate.
