Legal regulations in the frame of health protection of occupational staff

Abstract
Benefits from the use of ionizing radiation in medicine and technology do not change the fact that the detrimental effects on human health could appear. Therefore there is the need for appropriate regulations to ensure the radiation protection monitoring, especially for occupational staff. Protection rules allow to minimize the amount of radiation effects associated with the negative effects of ionizing radiation. The development of new technologies and modern equipment also requires that the laws should be constantly adapted to new requirements to ensure the safety of occupationally exposed persons. In the paper the most important in Poland and European Union legal acts related to radiation protection are presented, as well as the obligations arising therefrom and regulations.
