Legal status of married couple in Ancient Athenian’s family

Abstract
The article attempts to highlight the peculiarities of the legal status of married couple in a family of Ancient Athens. Authority, grounds for limiting rights and freedoms of wife in accordance with customary law and laws in Ancient Athens are revealed. The differences between her status and her husband’s status are shown. Particular attention is paid to the issue of inheritance of a woman under the Ancient Athenian law.
