Length-Weight Relationship and Condition Factor of Spotted Flounder Citharus linguatula (Linnaeus, 1758) in Iskenderun Bay, North-eastern Mediterranean, Turkey
Journal Title: Natural and Engineering Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 2, Issue 1
Abstract
A total of 252 spotted flounder, Citharus linguatula (Linnaeus, 1758) were caught in the Iskenderun Bay from October 2012 to September 2013 using a commercial bottom trawler. Length-weight relationships (LWRs), sex ratio and condition factor of the fish specimens were investigated. Within collected C. linguatula samples, most of the individuals ranged from 10.0 to 15.0 cm (80.15%), the minimum and maximum total lengths of the specimens were 7.0 and 18.5 cm, respectively. Negative allometric growth were observed for male, female and both sexes. The sex ratio (females: males) was 1:1.04. Length-weight relationships for females, males and both sexes, were calculated as W= 0.0099 TL2.874, W= 0.0086TL2.920 and W= 0.0092TL2.896 , respectively Fulton’s condition factor (KF) values for female (0.7228) and male (0.7095) specimens also showed significant variations (P<0.01).

Length-Weight and Length-Length Relationships of the Fourlined Terapon Pelates quadrilineatus (Bloch, 1790) in the North-Eastern Mediterranean Sea, Turkey
This study investigates length–weight relationships (LWR) and length–length relationships (LLRs) of three length measurements (TL, FL, SL) for the Mediterranean population of the IndoPasific fourlined terapon, Pelates qu...
Haar wavelet collocation method for the approximate solutions of Emden-Fowler type equations
This paper investigates the Haar wavelet collocation method (HWCM) to obtain approximate solution of the linear Emden-Fowler type equations. To show the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method, some problems are s...
Otolith biometry of Serranus scriba (Linnaeus, 1758) from the Southern Aegean Sea
Otoliths are widely used in stomach content analysis in fisheries biology, other than age determination or ichthyo-archeological studies, because they have species specific morphological features. It is possible determin...
Performance Evaluation of Mobile Base Station under different Network Sizes on Cluster-Based Wireless Sensor Networks
The position of the base station (BS) in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) has a significant impact on network lifetime. This paper suggests a mobile BS positioning algorithm for clusterbased WSNs, which considers both the...
Critically endangered fish species of Turkish Seas (Mediterranean and Aegean): Longfin gurnard, Chelidonichthys obscurus (Walbaum, 1792)
Longfin gurnard Chelidonichthys obscurus (Walbaum, 1792) is reported several times from various researchers in the checklist of Turkish marine fishes. However, last three decades, the species is not occurred in the distr...
