Lexical Peculiarities of Portrait Descriptions in Modern English Literary Discourse

Abstract
The article is aimed at analysis of peculiarities of functioning of the portrait description in a literary discourse. The subject of investigation is lexical peculiarities of portrait descriptions in the text of the novel “Rainmaker” by John Grisham. Since moods and feelings of people, as well as their attitude to other people are represented through peculiarities of their mimicry, gestures and movements, the prevailing usage of kinesic vocabulary in portrait descriptions acquires utmost importance.
