Linguistic and cultural adaptation of the Derogatis Sexual Functioning Inventory-Αttitudes subscale in the Greek language <br /> <br />

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To perform linguistic and cultural adaptation of the Derogatis Sexual Functioning Inventory (DSFI)-attitude subscale in the Greek language. METHOD The instrument was translated into the Greek language using the bilingual translation methodology. The cultural adaptation was performed by its completion by 23 medical students. Subsequently, 150 physicians, 150 medical students and 146 paramedical students completed the final version. RESULTS The DSFI-attitude subscale was shown to have satisfactory internal consistency (Cronbach alpha=0.87), test-retest reliability and construct validity. CONCLUSIONS The DSFI attitude subscale can be used as a valuable instrument for the measurement of sexual attitudes in future research projects, or as an evaluation tool for sexual health training programs in both secondary and tertiary education.
