Liquidity Position of Private Sector Textile Companies in India-A Case Study

Journal Title: Scholars Journal of Economics, Business and Management - Year 2014, Vol 1, Issue 2

Abstract

The present paper examines the liquidity position of purposively selected two textile private companies under the study based on secondary data obtained from CMIE Prowess Database for the period from 2008-2013 with the application of descriptive statistics. In recent times, the behaviour of the Indian people in terms of wearing imported garments has been changed significantly. As a result, the profitability of the Indian textiles industries have been below the normal level as its in the earlier decades due to its improper investment in working capital in terms of liquidity. The empirical results illustrate that liquidity position is poor in case of both the companies under the study and their liquidity management is also faulty.
