Literatura homiletyczna w zbiorach biblioteki franciszkanów-reformatów w Węgrowie w świetle Rejestru najnowiej ułożonych książek… z 1854 roku

Abstract
The Community of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal played an important role in the evangelization of the inhabitants of Węgrów and the surroundings. Their close contact with the locals, their simple and straightforward preaching, and their understanding in the confessional have earned them both the empathy and the kindness of the local people. During their almost 200-year-long presence in Węgrów, the friars have amassed a broad collection of books, which they systematically expanded with new relevant items, including homiletical literature. It is safe to say that the Węgrów friars’ library served as a professional library and was used for scientific and own research. The titular list of books from List of the newly added books… from 1854 shows that the friars were leading an intellectually rich life, constantly enhancing their skills and tools. Despite limited written sources, we can nowadays document their contribution to the propagation of education, culture and the spoken word in the Polish language.
