LOGISTICS AS A SIGNIFICANT INSTRUMENT FOR SHAPING AN ENTERPRISE AND FOR MANAGEMENT OF TRANSPORT
Journal Title: Biuletyn Instytutu Morskiego - Year 1996, Vol 23, Issue 2
Abstract
Considerations presented in this paper show that supply, production, market, transport, widely understood storage management, and also handling of cargo are treated as one interconnected process in the logistics concept. Therefore, logistics may be considered as an instrument for forming the organisation and management of transport. Logistics allow to attain maximum efficiency of distribution (in that of transport). Use of logistics in the transport management system allows to find comprehensive solutions to problems concerning interacting processes related with the physical flow of goods in space and time. The logistics approach to management of transport chains forms conditions for the integration of the whole system of supply of goods.
