Long-term clinical observation of overdenture supported by the double crown with clearance fit. A case report

Abstract
Telescopic prostheses are a useful solution for patients with residual dentition. They ensure good loading of abutment teeth and stability of denture during mastication. In this article the case of a patient using a telescopic denture supported by the double crown with clearance fit is presented. A 62-year old patient appeared for prosthetic treatment. She has been using a complete denture in the maxilla and overdenture in the mandible for 14 years. During treatment a new complete denture was made in the maxilla and the overdenture was totally rebuilt. The double crown system has many advantages that weighs in favour of using these prostheses in the treatment of elderly people who are not candidates for intraosseus implants.
