Long-term treatment results of an avulsed permanent upper incisior – case report

Abstract
Introduction: In clinical practice traumatic dental injuries, particularly to the incisal region, are frequent occurrences, and their number is increasing. Replantation is the accepted treatment of choice in cases of avulsion. Aim of the study: To report on the clinical management of a case of avulsion of a permanent upper central incisor including local complications which occurred postoperatively. Material and methods: An 11-year-old boy had his upper left central incisor replanted following dental trauma. On the basis of clinical and radiographic examinations long-term follow-up results of the procedure were assessed. Conclusion: The assessment confirmed the validity of tooth replantation after avulsion. The importance of cooperation between the patients, their carers and physicians was also stressed.
