LOSS OF ACCESS TO THE SACRED DIMENSION AS A PREMISE OF WORLDVIEW CRISIS IN ANCIENT SOCIETY

Journal Title: Наукові праці. Серія "Філософія" - Year 2017, Vol 300, Issue 288

Abstract

The present article deals with the problem of overcoming of worldview crisis in ancient society. The author fo-cuses on the reasons of the origin of this crisis which arises from a loss of access to the sacred dimension of the Being and underlies contemporary worldview crisis. Ancient philosophical doctrines, based on liberating experience of its founders, take into account the unity of the world and humans. However, the development of human activity and the transformation of worldview models have a significant impact on the destruction of traditional mechanisms of rela-tionship between humans and the Being. The change of approach to existential experience suggests the creation of a new world model in order to correlate existential experience with daily life experience. Considerable attention is paid to factors influencing the predominance of discursive thinking submitted to laws of formal logic. Special emphasis is put on the important role of Aristotle in the process of delegitimisation of Being. Aristotle’s criticism of Plato’s Theo-ry of Forms gives an insight into contradictory aspects of new patterns of thought. This complicated situation prevails until the Neoplatonists make an attempt to resolve the problem introducing essential changes in the description of the Being through another discursive system.
