LOW FLOW ANAESTHESIA
Journal Title: Journal of Evidence Based Medicine and Healthcare - Year 2014, Vol 1, Issue 9
Abstract
Modern inhalational anaesthetic agents are metabolized to a small extent only and are largely exhaled unchanged. The use of closed system with carbon dioxide absorption units and comprehensive gas monitoring permits the exploitation of this to perform economical and safe „low-flow anaesthesia‟. Modern equipment permits the further reduction of the carrier gas flow to the ultimate degree of providing the patient‟s requirements. This article describes the principles of Low flow anaesthesia, its advantages & disadvantages.
