Lung Adenocarcinoma with Coexistent Primary Hyperparathyroidism

Abstract

The simultaneous presence of lung carcinoma and primary hyperparathyroidism, both causative conditions for hypercalcemia, is quite rare. A 56-year-old woman was diagnosed with hypercalcemia, caused by asymptomatic primary hyperparathyroidism attributable to a parathyroid adenoma. During evaluation, a lung mass was detected and diagnosed as lung adenocarcinoma on biopsy. We report the coexistence of primary hyperparathyroidism with malignancy in a patient who has hypercalcemia.
