Management of acute upper Gastrointestinal bleed

Journal Title: The Indian Practitioner - Year 2018, Vol 71, Issue 6

Abstract

Even in case of previous history of bleed or minor bleed, upper GI score is needed to ascertain cause of bleed. As initial small bleed may be followed by a massive bleed later on or cause malignancy can be missed if scopy not performed. So, in conclusion, any upper GI bleed should be managed as early as possible and should be treated at local level only till patient can be transferred to a higher center.
