Journal Title: IJSR-International Journal Of Scientific Research - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 6
Abstract
Papillon-Lefevre syndrome (PLS) was first described in 1924 by French physicians Papillon and Lefevre, which is characterised by a combination of hyperkeratosis of palms and soles and premature loss of both the primary and secondary dentitions due to progressive periodontal disease[1,2].Other features like intracranial calcifications, retardation of somatic development may also be seen.Treatment for the patients with this syndrome may include conventional periodontal theraphy for controlling the microorganism A.actinomycetocomitans inorder to preserve the natural teeth but it fails in these patients further leading to bone resorption so, it is generally advised to protect the remaining alveolar bone by extraction of remaining natural teeth
