High-value, species-rich, extensively managed meadows and pastures are connected with long-term pastoralism and are maintained by traditional forms of farming. Due to decrease of animal number since the second half of 20th century, as well as abandonment of meadows at higher altitudes, and introducing an intensive farming at lower locations, the vegetation of semi-natural mountain meadows have been changed seriously. The main difficulty of maintaining species rich meadows of high natural value is low economical profitability of an extensive farming
