Measurements of Percussion Cap Parameters
Journal Title: Problemy Mechatroniki. Uzbrojenie, lotnictwo, inżynieria bezpieczeństwa - Year 2013, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
Investigation results of percussion cap (KWM-3 as example) parameters such as initiation mean energy (130 mJ approx.), their standard deviation (30 mJ approx.) as well as delay time (450 s at an average), firing pin deepening (350 m at an average) and energy absorbed (< 150 mJ) up to the initiation moment were presented. The measurements were conducted with an aid of the facility and methods worked out in the AFIT (ITWL). The change of delay time, firing pin deepening and energy absorbed versus energy used for initiation were shown.

Heat Transfer Investigations in Thermally Activated Battery – Experimental and Numerical Studies
In this paper both experimental and numerical studies of heat transfer in thermally activated batteries deriving from chemical sources of electric currents are considered. These batteries are used to supply special devic...
Proving Ground Testing of an Anti-Aircraft Artillery Evaluation System
This paper is an elaboration of the design, operating principle, and a selection of proving ground test results of an anti-aircraft artillery acoustic evaluation system. The correct location of projectiles in flight with...
Effect of Muzzle Brake on Projectile Velocity Increase in the Intermediate Ballistics
The paper continues the authors’ studies on the influence of intermediate ballistics phenomena on increase in the projectile velocity. In a consecutive stage of investigations, studies of the presence of the muzzle brak...
Flexible Modular Armour for Protection Against the 5.56 x 45 mm SS109 Projectiles
The paper presents the results of the depth of penetration tests (DOP) and numerical simulations of the 5.56 x 45 mm SS109 projectile impact onto passive, layered armours placed on the armour backing material. Investiga...
