MECHANICAL ENGINEERING IN ANCIENT EGYPT, PART 51: METAL CASTING
Journal Title: World Journal of Engineering Research and Technology - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 4
Abstract
This is the 51st research paper exploring the evolution of Mechanical Engineering in Ancient Egypt. The paper investigates the development of the metal casting industry in ancient Egypt during the Predynastic and Dynastic Periods. The evolution of both solid and hollow casting techniques is studied with extensive examples on each type. The use of casting molds is studied with detailed procedure for the casting process as depicted in tomb scenes. The characteristics of each metal-casted artifact are presented.
