Mechanics of sailing ship motion
Journal Title: Mathematica Applicanda. Annales Societatis Mathematicae Polonae Series III . - Year 2015, Vol 43, Issue 1
Abstract
The Author, looking into the rules defining the sailing ship efficiency, delineates a number of mathematical equations that are proved in practice to be accurate. The equation of the sailing ship efficiency in a downwind sector is similar to the curves from Wulff grid, while the equation in an windward sector is similar to the fourth degree curve, not circulated yet. The article presents details of the established assumptions, a method of formulas' deriving as well as conclusions and suggestions of new definitions of terms to be used in the nautical vocabulary.

Common-Knowledge and Bayesian Equilibrium in Network Game
In this paper we investigate equilibriums in the Bayesian routing problem of the network game introduced by Koutsoupias and Papadimitriou [LNCS 1563, pp.404-413. Springer (1999)]. We treat epistemic conditions for Nas...
The Bruss-Robertson Inequality: Elaborations, Extensions, and Applications
The Bruss-Robertson inequality gives a bound on the maximal number of elements of a random sample whose sum is less than a specified value, and the extension of that inequality which is given here neither requires the in...
Markov morphisms: a combined copula and mass transportation approach to multivariate quantiles
Our purpose is both conceptual and practical. On the one hand, we discuss the question which properties are basic ingredients of a general conceptual notion of a multivariate quantile. We propose and argue that the objec...
Energy decay result for a nonlinear wave p-Laplace equation with a delay term
We consider the nonlinear (in space and time) wave equation with delay term in the internal feedback. Under conditions on the delay term and the term without delay, we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions using the...
On two-parameters generalization of Fibonacci numbers
In this paper we introduce a new two-parameters generalization of Fibonacci numbers – distance s-Fibonacci numbers Fs(k, n). We generalize the known distance Fibonacci numbers by adding an additional integer parameter s....
