Journal Title: Geriatric Research - Year 2024, Vol 5, Issue 6
Abstract
[Objective] To explore the mediating effect of psychological resilience between family function and fear of disease progression in patients with lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans. [Methods] Convenient sampling method was used to select patients with lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans who visited the Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University from September 2023 to March 2024 as the investigation object. General information questionnaire, family care index questionnaire, resilience scale and Chinese version of the simplified fear of disease progress scale were used to conduct the questionnaire survey. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between psychological resilience, family function and fear of disease progression in patients with lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans, and the mediating effect was tested by Process. [Results] In this study, 223 questionnaires were distributed, and 214 questionnaires were effectively recovered, with an effective recovery rate of 95.96%. The total scores of family function, psychological resilience and fear of disease progression were 5.99±2.97, 67.44±18.67 and 29.41±12.19 respectively. The results of correlation analysis showed that the fear of disease progression in patients with lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans was negatively correlated with psychological resilience (r=-0.874, P<0.001) and negatively correlated with family function (r=-0.827, P<0.001). The results of mediating effect showed that psychological resilience played a part in mediating between family function and fear of disease progression, and the mediating effect accounted for 71.31% of the total effect. [Conclusion] Resilience of patients with lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans has a mediating effect between family function and fear of disease progression, and family function can influence fear of disease progression through psychological resilience.
