Medical Tourism in Aanchar Lake! Misconceptions and Drawbacks

Journal Title: Scholars Journal of Engineering and Technology - Year 2014, Vol 2, Issue 6

Abstract

Medical Tourism is the act of travelling to other countries to obtain world class medical, dental or surgical care. The term was initially coined by travel agencies and the media as a catchall phrase to describe a rapidly growing industry where people travel to other countries for seeking medical care. The two important factors of medical tourism are that the treatment facilities being provided should be of world class and there should be no waiting time. Besides, cost of treatment should be less in comparison to developed counties. Medical tourism has both merits as well as demerits. While aspiring to become a world class supplier of health care services for boosting tourism industry, there should be consideration of issues related to medical treatment of poor people and environment too.
