Medicine of ancient Egypt

Abstract

In the work based on the analysis of ancient Egyptian sources it is proved that the development of medical science and practice in ancient Egypt was regressive in nature, as evidenced by a gradual transition from the initial scientific notions of the origin, diagnosis and treatment of diseases into purely magical notions of the origin, diagnosis and treatment of disease . It is proved that religious teachings and especially the doctrine of immortality of the soul, the static nature of the world and spirits had a basis for the formation of medical representations of Ancient Egypt. It is established that the religious beliefs that captured all aspects of the life of ancient Egyptian society played a key role in the regression of the development of medicine in ancient Egypt.
