Abstract
(Refugee Crisis in Hungarian Press) Refugee crisis is one of the most critical global issues today. Migration caused by wars and climate change is an important matter for the world, especially for the leaders of the European Union. In 2015, Hungary was a key player in the asylum fi eld, and the international press referred to it as the „gate of Europe”. The aim of my dissertation is to show with statistical data: attitudes against migration processes and politics have been very close in Hungary. This was mainly refl ected in the public opinion, including the government campaign and a very strong opposition movement. I analyzed the Magyar Idők governmental and Népszabadság opposition papers with the method of content analysis, which resulted, among other things, to answer why Viktor Orbán was more popular even then - and his migration policy, such as Ferenc Gyurcsány and the opposition.
