MENTAL SENSE OF HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE

Abstract
The article explores the concept of mentality, the methodology of its study. The concept of “mentality” is defined in the views of European researchers. The approaches to this concept study have been revealed. Attention has been paid to the forms of its manifestation and national specifics. For a comprehensive study of the historical process, it is necessary to take into account all the factors that could affect it: cultural, social, national, religious, mental, etc. Mentality characterizes the historical development of the community, the specificity of responding to various social stimuli, has a collective expression, belonging to a particular culture, the nation and is manifested by stereotypes of thinking, by the level of history meaning and understanding.
