Metadramatic Potential of Buffoonery in Dramas of Mykola Kulish

Abstract
The art works of Mykola Kulish are analyzed in light of metadrama theory for the first time in this article. The study aims to identify the author’s reception of the theater, which is based on the concept of a clown. The main focus is on the play “The Eternal Riot” in which the poetics of metadrama is implemented at several text levels. Archetype of clown can be read as in the images of the characters as well in the image of the author and promotes layering of fictional reality and self-reflexivity of the text.
