Methane in outer space: The limit between organic and inorganic
Journal Title: Extreme Life, Biospeology & Astrobiology - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2011, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
Methane is the principal component of natural gas, the simplest alkane, and among the most abundant organic compounds on our planet; it is also found in outer space in enormous amounts. The extremely abundant and natural occurrence of methane in outer space is a starting point in our understanding as regards the ability of matter to became “more organic”. Hydrogen and carbon were created to be together. We wonder… is organic soup of Earth's past only a vague assumption? It is enough to admire the variety and abundance of hydrocarbons in our solar system that we answer the question.

Texture analysis methods for the characterisation of biological and medical images
Adaptations can be extreme in many cases and they help organisms survive in their habitat or ecological niche. These adaptations can affect their anatomy, ethology or physiology. Anatomical adaptations are physical featu...
Statistical analysis of cellulase production in Bacillus amyloliquefaciens UNPDV-22
The production of cellulase in Bacillus amyloliquefaciens UNPDV-22 was optimized using response surface methodology (RSM). Central composite design (CCD) was used to study the interactive effect of fermentation medium c...
Microbial production of poly-β-hydroxybutyrates -an overview
Efficient poly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) production represents an actual preoccupation of fundamental research from current biotechnology. Since PHB production out of renewable sources has a positive environmental impact a...
On the adaptations to cave life of some different animal groups (first note).
In this paper we present the major and common adaptations to the cave environment of different animal groups. The common features are: anophthalmia, depigmentation, apterism in the case of insects, body shape and ecophys...
Plantago cornuti Gouan, a rare halophyte: sites from Transylvanian Depression (Romania)
This paper is a brief summary on the rare halophile species Plantago cornuti Gouan’s populations in the Transylvanian Depression (Romania). In this work were listed and characterized a number of sites across the Transyl...
