Methane in outer space: The limit between organic and inorganic
Journal Title: Extreme Life, Biospeology & Astrobiology - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2011, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
Methane is the principal component of natural gas, the simplest alkane, and among the most abundant organic compounds on our planet; it is also found in outer space in enormous amounts. The extremely abundant and natural occurrence of methane in outer space is a starting point in our understanding as regards the ability of matter to became “more organic”. Hydrogen and carbon were created to be together. We wonder… is organic soup of Earth's past only a vague assumption? It is enough to admire the variety and abundance of hydrocarbons in our solar system that we answer the question.

The influence of Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) on the reduction of abiotic stresses in crops
Plants are always subjected to biotic and abiotic stresses in the environment which have influences on the growth and development of the plants. Beneficial free-living soil bacteria are usually referred as Plant-Growth...
Microbiological research on the enzymologic potential of Arieş river (Romania) sediments
Ten sediment samples from Arieș river were collected and these samples have been analyzed qualitatively enzymologically. In the sediment samples, the following enzymatic activities have been qualitatively determined: fou...
