Abstract

The article is devoted to the investigation of the problem of revealing equivalency in the translation of words from one language into another. The author makes out two types of semantic relations between English and Uzbek words: equivalent words and corresponding variants. As a result of investigation types of equivalency which play an important role in the process of translation are made out. There are examples of English and Uzbek notions which have no equivalents in both languages and this is explained by national–cultural, historical and geographical specifics. The author offers a new methodology in the translation of such non-equivalent words and notions in translation from one language into another. Attention is paid to the interpretation of intercultural dialogue which is one of the ways of translation, which leads arts treasures to penetrate into another national literature, interacts with nations, and strengthens friendship and cooperation between them. It is noticed that the choice of the best among the terms — is one of the most significant problems, which should be solved in the translation process as it directly deals with the translation of non-equivalent words. It is concluded that difficulty is met in choosing equivalents for most frequently used English proverbs in translation into the Uzbek language. The article has valuable conclusions dealing with the theory and practice of translation and making it correct and effective. The theoretical part of the article is proved by numerous examples.
