METHODS OF INFORMATION IMPACT ON CITIZENS OF KYIV, PODILIA AND VOLYN GOVERNORATES BY RUSSIAN IMPERIAL AUTHORITIES IN THE PERIOD OF 1914–1917

Abstract
The article reveales the main information methods of Russian imperial authorities for the purpose of patriotic and pro-military position formation in the Kyiv, Podilia and Volyn Governorates in the period of 1914–1917. The main contemporary scientific researches on these issues are reported. A wide range of local periodicals of that period, including “Kyiv Zemska Newspaper”, “Podoliia”, “The Citizen of Kyiv”, “Kiev”, “Volyn Life”, “South-Western Krai”, “The Latest News” etc. are analyzed. The basic themes of propaganda and narrative structures that used by means of information dissemination at that time have been studied. Special attention is paid to the characteristic of methods such as “excuses and justifications”, “propaganda of patriotism”, “glorification”, “appeal to authority”, “appeal to civic duty”, “inevitable victory” etc. The key objectives, aims and mechanisms of these methods’ application are identified. The meaning and impact of information methods on social consciousness formation of civilians and the military are clarified.
