METHODS OF INVESTIGATION OF FUNCTIONING OF ZOONYMS IN MENTAL LEXICON

Abstract
The article is dedicated to the study of the organization of zoonyms in the mental lexicon of English, Ukrainian and Russian speakers. The aim of this investigation is the establishment of adequate methods in understanding of the organization and functioning of the proper names of animals in the individual mental lexicon. The object of the study are English, Ukrainian and Russian zoonyms, the subject — their associative field and semantic gestalts of the associative onymic field. As the material of investigation the results of the free associative experiment were chosen, comprising 90 questionnaires, each consisting of 30 zoonyms-stimuli, the latter being represented by usual, virtual and sacral onyms.
