Metropolitan’s Authority in the 1983 Code of Canon Law

Abstract
The 1983 Code of Canon Law provides that a church province comprises neighboring particular Churches. Church provinces are created to promote the common pastoral activities of neighboring dioceses and to foster the mutual relations of diocesan bishops. The authorities a Church province are: the metropolitan and the provincial synod which is composed of a conference of bishops and other representatives of particular Churches constituting the same province.
