MICRO-IMPACT CRACKING OF TRIBOLOGICAL COATINGS
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2015, Vol 262, Issue 4
Abstract
The stress field in the coating/substrate system causes combined effects on both the coating and substrate materials due to cyclic loads. The consequence is the initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks leading to a loss of materials. A theoretical means of the analysis of the stress field in these systems is the modified Hertz theory, which is used to determine the depth of the point of maximum stress concentration and the contact radius of coating/substrate system in contact with the ball. The analytically contact radius of the coating/substrate system in contact with a ball was determined and experimentally verified. For the purposes of design and the proper operation of tools and machine parts with coatings, the points of maximum contact stress concentration were estimated. The analysis of the theoretical fatigue process of coating/substrate systems was verified in the experimental research.

VARIOUS MECHANISMS OF CORROSIVE AND MECHANICAL WEAR OF STAINLESS STEEL IN SLIDING PAIRS
The paper presents the results of tests on corrosive and mechanical wear of different kinds of stainless steel (AISI 430, AISI 420, AISI 321 and AISI 304) in solution of 0.5M H2SO4 and in a solution of 3.5% NaCl. The exp...
THE TRIBOLOGICAL STUDIES OF PLASMA-SPRAYED CERAMIC COATINGS
Plasma-sprayed coatings on the base of ceramic powders Al2O3, Al2O3-В and Al2O3-Mo were investigated. The thickness of coatings after processing was equal to 0.5–0.7 mm, the base material was steel C45. The analysis of m...
SILICONE POLYETHERS AS EFFECTIVE ADDITIVES MODIFYING WATER LUBRICITY
Silicone oils have been applied as lubricants not only in machinery but also in biological systems, for instance, in articular capsules in the case of rheumatism. Since these compounds are not watersoluble, their polyeth...
THE INFLUENCE OF SPRAY LUBRICATION OF AN OPEN GEAR TRANSMISSION ON THE TOOTH WEAR AND TRANSMISSION EFFICIENCY
The article covers the issues of the influence of the type of lubrication on the tribological wear and operational reliability of open gears in the propulsion system of ball mills and rotary kilns. The influence of the t...
AN ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF JOURNAL’S HELICAL GROOVE ON THE WEAR AND LOAD CAPACITY OF THE SLIDING BEARING
The article presents the results of a sliding bearing with a helical groove on a journal. The studies included wear tests with contaminated lubrication oil and computer simulation of oil flow based on which the load capa...
