Microbial life of the deep saline biosphere
Journal Title: JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN BIOLOGY - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 4
Abstract
Transfer microbiological studies under the surface of the Earth to exploration of deep intraterrestrial microbial life is important to allows exceeding the current framework of science. Microbial life is determined by physical, geochemical, and biological factors such as the availability of liquid water, energy, nutrients, and trace elements. Additionally, conditions including ambient temperature, pH, salinity, and pressure interact with biological systems to define the space for life. Recent studies have shown the presence and activity of cells in deep marine sediments and in the continental deep biosphere. Characterizing the bacterial community composition and recognition of diversity of microorganisms may play an important role in biogeochemical carbon cycling and potential biotechnological application of these microorganisms.

The effect of ZJXG decoction on the serum levels of GH, CT, PTH and VitD3 in femur fracture rats
In this paper, we aim to investigate the effects of Zhuang Jin Xu Gu(ZJXG) decoction on the serum levels of growth hormone (GH), calcitonin (CT), parathyroid hormone (PTH) and active vitamin D3 (VitD3) and the femoral fr...
Purification and Characterization of Pectinase from Bacillus licheniformis obtained from a Cassava Waste Dump
This study investigated the properties of pectinase from Bacillus licheniformis. The pectinase secreted by the microorganism was purified using ion exchange and gel filtration chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex and Sephadex...
Surveillance ecological study of cellular responsesin three marine edible bivalve species to Cd present in their marine habitat,Mediterranean sea in Alexandria, Egypt.
Coastal habitats experience large fluctuations of environmental factors such as salinity; they also serve as the natural sinks for trace metals. Bivalves are exposed to the elevated concentrations of metals in water that...
Study of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury
Acute renal failure (ARF) has traditionally been defined as the abrupt loss of kidney function that results in retention of urea and other nitrogenous waste products and dysregulation of extracellular volume and electrol...
DYNAMICS OF POLYSTYRENE MICROSPHERE LINKING TO λ-PHAGE DNA MOLECULE IN OPTICAL TWEEZERS USING PULSED GAUSSIAN LASER BEAM
The trapping process of the biological micro-particle in the tweezers using CW laser beam has been investigated in series of our works. In the CW regime, the dynamics of polystyrene microsphere linking to λ-phage DNA mo...
