Microwave Assisted Acid Digestion Method for the Determination of Some Heavy Metals in Halophyte Samples
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2015, Vol 9, Issue 4
Abstract
A new, simple and highly sensitive method was proposed for determination heavy metals (Ag, Sn, Pb, Cd and As) in the Suaeda Vermiculata and Suaeda aegyptiaca in three different regions of Southern Iran using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) after microwave-assisted acid digestion. The limit of detection (LOD) was below 10 ngkg?1,and the relative standard deviations (RSD) were below 5%.The recoveries of all the elements were in the range of 80% to 102%, and the linear correlation coefficients (R) were 0.99. Sample preparation method include:(a) microwave assisted dissolution of the samples (b) addition of 4 mL HNO3(6 M) and 1 mL of H2O2(1 M) and (c) ultrasonic 20°C and of 3 min, filtration and dilution of the solution to a predetermined volume before being subjected to analysis by ICP-OES Thus, the proposed ICP-OES method was successfully applied for for determining element concentrations in halophytes.
