Abstract

in the contribution we deal with the transformation of rural communities in the context of their development as well as with the micro-regional associations of municipalities, reasons for their establishment, spatial distribution of micro-regions in the Slovak republic and with the importance of these associations. The aim of this contribution is to describe micro-regional associations of municipalities and to evaluate their spatial distribution in Slovakia.
