MOBILE PHONE ADDICTION AS NEW SOCIAL PROBLEM AND EDUCATIONAL CHALLENGE

Abstract
The article concerns a problem of mobile phone addiction. It has been treated as a new social problem and an educational challenge.The first part presents a short history of mobile phones and indicates reasons for purchasing and using these communication devices. It has also been defined what information addiction is, drawing attention to the etiology. This part also shows the typical features of a mentally-addicted person’s behaviour and the types of mobile phone addiction.The second part discusses the results of Polish and foreign research related to the above-mentioned problem (a statistical approach), while the third part deals with the consequences and effects of cyber addiction. At the end of the article the author highlights the need for the prevention of the addiction and the challenges facing education, leading to the safety of users of digital devices.
