Mock-Up Method of Furniture Making in the case of a Lobster Type Yacht
Journal Title: Invention Journal of Research Technology in Engineering & Management - Year 2019, Vol 3, Issue 5
Abstract
Today, luxury yachts are considered as a symbol of status and it is usually perceived with their styling and interiors. This makes the two complementary works important in the production process, construction of the hull, superstructure and partitioning the interior, making furniture. All are related not only with aesthetics, quality, ergonomics, comfort and functionality but also safety, stability and performance. Choosing the right method in yacht production and furniture making is critical for minimizing the error. Requirements of the client, capacity, know-how, equipment pool of the boatyard and furniture company should be taken into consideration in this choice. Design process must be completely finished before the production starts. As the data collection method, an interview is made with the director of a boatyard producing Lobster type yachts, which is a small-sized company, so the director was involved in almost all phases of construction. This was helpful to see the whole picture and even few, to understand the problems faced with. Within the scope of this study, after a shortened literature review in the second chapter, there is a summarized report of all answers to picturize the production process of the yacht in the third. As a conclusion, the main problem was with the delivery time which was not enough to finish both the project and production. It was a pressure on the company, so resulted with an early start for positive mold making. Because the details were still being drawn during this phase, some problems with mounting occurred later
