Model of Female Entrepreneurial Motivation for Small Business Development in West Sumatra

Abstract
Objective- The purposes of this research are first, to find out the factors that can motivate a woman to have a business in West Sumatera. Second, to see how resources that the region have can support a small business in West Sumatera. Last but not least, to get a model of a small business growth based on motivation for a women to do business and the resources in West Sumatra. Methodology/Technique - This research is a kind of explorative research with the majority population is a small business in West Sumatera, which is run by a woman. We used in-depth interview and observation to get a sample. We took Padang and Bukittinggi as a region sample. The analysis methods, that we used is descriptive analysis. We combined a variable from Muriel Orhan (2001) and the research from industrial and trading department in west java (1997) as an operational variable. This paper contributes to the understanding about the importance of food allergy awareness among public. Findings - As a result of the research, we found that there are three variables that can motivate a woman in West Sumatera in order to be an entrepreneur; based on motivation to be a businessman from their desire after they finish their education or after they get married, they also want to be an entrepreneur, help the household economy because of her husband income or salary was not enough, and also, they have an ability which they obtained on work elsewhere. There are a few woman said that be an entrepreneur was just a hobby. Novelty - This research investigatedthe influences of the woman as an entrepreneur in the business.
