Modeling of Combined Phenomena Affecting an AUV Stealth Vehicle
Journal Title: TransNav, the International Journal on Marine Navigation and Safety of Sea Transportation - Year 2016, Vol 10, Issue 4
Abstract
In the paper some results of research connected with modeling the basic stealth characteristics of an AUV vehicle are presented. First of all a general approach to design of the stealth AUV autonomous underwater vehicles under consideration is introduced. Then the AUV stealth vehicle concept is briefly described. Next a method of modeling of the stealth characteristics is briefly described. As an example of the stealth characteristics investigations some results of modeling the boundary layer and wake are presented. Some remarks regarding the behavior of the AUV stealth vehicle in the submerged conditions are given. The final conclusions are presented.

Study on Manoeuvring Criteria for Safety Assessment in Shallow Water
The necessity of verifying manoeuvring mathematical models in shallow water for studying the safety of ships using a ship-handling simulator is pointed out in this report. Several instances of verification of mathematica...
Measuring Container Port Complementarity and Substitutability with Automatic Identification System (AIS) Data – Studying the Inter-port Relationships in the Oslo Fjord Multi-port Gateway Region
This paper considers the degree of competition among small and medium-sized container ports located in a multi-port gateway region. The level of port competition is evaluated by means of an analysis of the revealed prefe...
Simulation-Augmented Methods for Safe and Efficient Manoeuvres in Harbour Areas
Safety of navigation is especially challenging and critical when a ship approaches and manoeuvres in harbour areas. Improving the safety especially in the first and last phase of a voyage is crucial and requires measures...
Experimental Study on the Application of UAV Drone to Prevent Maritime Pirates Attacks
In this paper, we present a concept of an application of UAV drones as a possible low‐cost device to avoid pirate attacks. Recent UAV drone can be operated in the range of more than 2km and transmit very clear images. Pi...
Analysis of Satellite AIS Data to Derive Weather Judging Criteria for Voyage Route Selection
The operational limitations are discussed at the IMO as a part of the second generation intact stability criteria. Since it is a first attempt to introduce operational efforts into safety regulations, comprehensive discu...
