Modelling Sector-wise Electricity Demand in Sri Lanka: An Application of Vector Autoregressive Model
Journal Title: Asian Research Journal of Mathematics - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 4
Abstract
The knowledge about the current and future electricity demands is necessary and much useful in planning and decision making for giving proper electricity supply. This study aimed to identify the pattern and to model the sector-wise electricity demand. Sector-wise (domestic, industrial and commercial) electricity demands from 1970 to 2015, were collected from central bank annual reports. The series of second order differences of demand in each sector, which showed stationarity, was modelled by using Vector Autoregressive (VAR) models. VAR model of order 3 (VAR(3)) could explain the behaviour of series of second order differences. This model showed 85% of minimum accuracy in prediction. There could be seen an increasing trend of demand in all the sectors. Up to late part of 80’s, a linear trend could be observed in each sector. Demands in domestic and commercial sectors were almost the same up to around 1988. After year 1988, the demand in domestic sector was higher than the demand in commercial sector. Up to about 2000, demand from industrial sector was higher than the other two sectors. During the period from 2000 to 2006, demand of domestic and industrial were almost the same. But after 2006, demand in domestic sector has gone up than the demand in industrial sector.

Energy of Fuzzy Regular and Graceful Graphs
Energy of graph and energy of fuzzy graph is the sum of the absolute values of the eigen values of adjacency matrix. The concept of energy of fuzzy graph is extended to fuzzy regular, totally regular and graceful graphs...
Nonseasonal ARIMA Modeling and Forecasting of Malaria Cases in Children under Five in Edum Banso Sub-district of Ghana
Approximately sixty-nine percent of deaths globally resulting from malaria infection occur in children under five years of age [1]. National control and prevention strategies will be greatly enhanced through better abili...
The Very Cost Effective Graph Folding of the Join of Two Graphs
In this paper we studied the very cost effective graph property for the join graph of two graphs. In general this is may or may not be a very cost effective graph. We obtained the conditions for the join graph of two gra...
Some Theorems on Fixed Points Set of Asymptotically Demicontractive Mappings in the Intermediate Sense
In this paper, we establish the closedness and convexity of the xed point set of asymptotically demicontractive mappings in the intermediate sense introduced by Olaleru and Okeke [Convergence theorems on asymptotically...
Levels, Differentials and Key Determinants of Under-five Mortality in Ghana
Aims: The disparity in under-five mortality between rural and urban areas in Ghana and other sub-Saharan African countries is a critical national concern. The main purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the lev...
