MODELO DE INGRESO A LA UNIVERSIDAD CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR Y RENDIMIENTO ACADÉMICO EN ESTUDIANTES DE SEGUNDO SEMESTRE DE LA FACULTAD DE FILOSOFÍA, LETRAS Y CIENCIAS DE LA EDUCACIÓN

Abstract
This study exposes the generated consequences in the educational process of the students enrolled in the second semester in different degrees of the Faculty of Philosophy, Arts and Sciences of the Education of the University Central of Ecuador, with the application of the model of entry to universities, implemented by the Senescyt during the period October 2016 - February 2017. The variables considered are: gender, change of major, professional aspirations, acquired knowledge, scholar repetition and agreement with the input system, academic performance, adaptation to the major, psychological orientation, exam preparation and order of the major options. In this study participated 384 men and 338 women. A survey was applied and the information was processed using the SPSS software. The results are: 24.4% changes of major, 49.2% consider that the major is not according to their aspiration, 29.2% has failed any subject, 68.1% disagrees with the input system, 45.5% considers that the counseling was regular and poor, 28.3% studied very hard for the ENES test and 71% could not get their first major choice. It is concluded that the model of the test admission to universities, has an impact on the students´ academic performance.
