Modern problems of development of Ukrainian tourism and recreation sector

Abstract

The article defines the factors of competitiveness of the tourism industry. The indicators of Ukraine are analyzed and the problematic aspects are highlighted in comparison with the rival countries. The lowest rates of domestic tourism are: "Security and protection", "Business environment", "Natural resources", "Environmental sustainability" and "Prioritization of travel and tourism". As the analysis of research data shows, in Ukraine the business environment does not contribute to the development of tourism. The low level of security and protection, which includes low level of police security, high levels of threat of gangsterism and terrorism. Ukraine has entered the dozen countries with the lowest level of security, which directly depend on political stability in the country, and has a negative impact on tourism. Unfortunately, the sphere of tourism in Ukraine is not considered as a priority, in particular, according to the indicator "priority of tourism development for the government of the country". Thus, according to the results of the study on environmental friendliness, it can be concluded that the prerequisites for the proper development of tourism are not sufficiently used in Ukraine. The reasons for this are the disadvantages of its organizational and economic support, as the mechanisms of regulation of the sphere of recreational and tourist activity both at the state level and at the regional level, have a systemic weakly regulated character. The key areas are identified, which, if there is a competent strategy, a positive information background, an appropriate image and targeted measures, can be considered as competitive advantages of the country in the tourism sector. Ukraine's position on Health and Hygiene, Human Resources and Market Labor "and" Price Competitiveness ". The recommendations for stimulating tourist activity for consolidation of the work of the authorities, the public and business for the common goal are given - observance of international standards of all participants of the tourist product supply chain for the sustainable development of tourist destinations of Ukraine.
