Modern trends for development of animal in Ukraine

Abstract

An undeniable fact is the importance of national food security and export potential of the country. The livestock sector, which provides consumers with valuable food products, plays an important role in this mission of the state. Therefore, the state of development of this branch of agriculture is relevant and belongs to the priorities of the state's agrarian policy. Livestock is consi-dered as a strategically important branch in the general structure of agricultural production. State support for the development of the livestock sector will enable the population of the country to produce high-quality domestic produce. The article describes the main sub-sectors of animal husbandry in Ukraine, provides quantitative and qualitative indicators of their development, dynamics of changes in the field of animal husbandry, focusing on problematic issues. The development of livestock farming in Ukraine in recent decades has been characterized by a significant decrease in the size of livestock, reduction of areas under fodder crops, declining volumes of livestock production, structural changes in the organization, placement and specialization of livestock industries. The article deals with current trends in the development and state of the livestock industry in Ukraine, the dynamics of economic indicators is investigated, and measures are proposed to increase the economic efficiency of the industry in the future. The main approaches to solving problems of livestock development are generalized. The features and volumes of state support for livestock de-velopment are determined. The directions of improvement of the mechanism of state support of livestock industries are substantiated. The barriers that hinder successful development and functioning are identified livestock farming in Ukraine, and the main strategic ones are indicated the directions of development of the industry, on which it is necessary to orient their activity to agricultural enterprises to ensure profitability and long-term development.
